There are few options for using computers in the Student Success Center at Sinclair Library.

First, Sinclair Library is a University of Hawaii (UHM) wireless hotspot.  If you have your own laptop with a wireless network card, you can log in to access our wireless service from anywhere in the building- from the first floor with its great natural light to the air-conditioned 3rd floor.

How to connect to UHM campus wireless: First, using your wireless settings select UHM. Once connected, launch a web browser, like Safari or Firefox, to login to the wireless network using your UH username and password. More detailed instructions, XP Vista Mac

If you are having problems connecting to the wireless you can go the ITS wireless (http://www.hawaii.edu/wireless/) page for helpful trouble shooting hints and tips or you can call the ITS Help Desk (808) 956-8883, or as the LAB monitor in the CLIC Lab.

Second, if you don’t have a laptop you can use the CLIC Lab and/or the public computers on the first floor.

CLIC Lab computers do require you to have a UH Username (the first part of your UH email address.) to log in.  The CLIC Lab offers many services like printing and computer help as well as access to productivity software like Word, Excel, Acrobat etc.
Visit the CLIC Lab’s (http://www.hawaii.edu/infotech/facilities.html) homepage for a complete list of services and available software.

Although the CLIC Lab is open during regular library  hours, various computer help services are available only when an attendant is on duty.  The attendant schedule can be found here (http://www.hawaii.edu/itslab/hours.htm).

Sinclair Library has a number of public computers, which are free for all patrons with a photo ID to use for 1 hour a day. These computers are located on the first and third floors.  They connect to the Internet including Voyager, the library’s online catalog. These computers do NOT allow the use of the flash drives, nor productivity software like MS Word, Excel. Open source software such as Zoho  or Google docs will allow you to open and print documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Hi Mr Admin,
I am newbie here in your forum First of all thanks for sharing helpful information. There is one of my cousin studying in the University of Hawaii he also told me about the University of Hawaii (UHM) wireless hotspot.
I think its really good for students and teachers to provide these kind of services inside the Sinclair Library.
I also thankful to the University management for providing helpful resources to their students.

Thanks
Gilroy Fernendez
